Coverage

Sports betting is now legal in 38 states, and bettors put roughly $120 billion through the books in 2025. The growth story is far from finished, though: more than 100 million people across Texas, California, Georgia and Florida still cannot place a legal mobile bet, so we stay close to the legislative push in each of them. Missouri came online in December 2025, and with FanDuel and DraftKings controlling about 70 percent of the market between them, we watch closely for anything that could shift that balance.

Online casino is live in just eight states, which is exactly why every attempt to add another one matters. New York has been at it for five years, and we follow each turn, from Senator Addabbo's bills to the unions' stance and whatever Governor Hochul signals next. Maine opened the door to tribal-exclusive iGaming in January 2026, while Virginia, Illinois, Ohio and Massachusetts all have bills on the table. For each one we keep tabs on the sponsors, committee assignments, hearings and votes that decide whether it lives or dies.

Regulation is the part that never sits still. Between the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority and the various state gaming boards, the rules covering licensing, responsible gaming, advertising and AML compliance are always being rewritten. Every time a regulator moves, operators have to adjust, and our job is to explain what each change actually means for the business.

Prediction markets have become the industry's newest fight. Kalshi won the right to offer political contracts in federal court, DraftKings and FanDuel rolled out sports contracts of their own, and regulators in Nevada, New Jersey and Maryland answered with enforcement actions. More than 30 states have since weighed in with amicus briefs, Flutter and DraftKings handed back their Nevada licenses, and the Supreme Court is expected to settle the question around the middle of 2026. We are covering it from every angle.

Operators show their hand every quarter. When Flutter, DraftKings, Penn, Caesars, MGM, Entain and Rush Street report, we dig into the guidance, the margins and how much they are still spending to chase customers. The people behind the numbers count too, so executive changes, board moves and key hires get the same attention.

Suppliers are the engine room of the business. IGT, Aristocrat, Light & Wonder, Evolution and Pragmatic Play set the pace through contract wins, product launches and regulatory approvals, and the calendar still runs through ICE Barcelona and G2E Las Vegas. We focus on the deals and releases that genuinely move markets rather than the noise on the show floor.

About iGamingNews.io

iGamingNews.io covers what actually moves the US gambling market: the DraftKings and FanDuel earnings calls, Flutter and Entain's expansion plays, tribal gaming compacts, and the regulatory fights between operators and state commissions. When Penn Entertainment restructures or Caesars trims costs, we write about it, and when a state gaming board hands out a fine or pulls a license, we cover that too.

Regulation makes up about half of what we do. Tax rates keep climbing, with Illinois recently pushing its sports betting rate to 40 percent. Advertising is tightening as several states ban betting ads during live games, and responsible gambling requirements keep expanding. A single legislative session can create or kill a billion-dollar market, so we follow bills the whole way through, from introduction to committee votes to the governor's signature.

The United States is the fastest-growing regulated gambling market in the world. Since PASPA fell in 2018, legal sports betting has gone from one state to 38, and online casino from three to eight. We built iGamingNews.io because the industry moves fast and breaks apart state by state, where scattered coverage is never enough to keep up. What you get here is the national picture, updated daily, with no paywall.
